Overview
Audience: People that want to know more about bank loans. People with low levels of financial literacy.
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
Process
The training story is based on helping a fictitious couple, Sarah and John, that are in need of a bank loan, so they can overhaul their apartment which is based in a popular part of Chicago.
Based on analysis of the loan market, there are several types of loans available on the market and often people don't have enough information on the same place, to make an educated selection between the options.
We boiled down the information to 4 basic principles which are revealed during the course.
Inside this training, we mapped out all steps of the journey that the couple will take to find the best deal. After the visit to the first bank, the couple should be able to enter other banks and not be guided by the story.
This unlocks the freedom of being able to make free choices, based on preferences and individual wishes.
At each bank the couple is faced with a choice to take a loan from given bank or go to explore more/other options. Each choice yields real-world consequences.
For each bank/choice there is a certain amount of points. These points are the key for a successful finishing of the story. Only with maximum points, the learner will be able to get to the final slide which reveals one last set of options.
There are no visible cues (or hints) why one loan is better than the other.
Storyboard
Features
Custom visuals: The form is based on a real-life loan form which was created in illustrator. The background images were additionally edited in Photoshop to give better feel of surroundings
Gamification: Keeping score. We added a score card, so there is willingness by the learner to retake the course if not being able to receive max points. This actually happened with our test group, where the average times the course was retaken was 5 times. All learners wanted to get to the last slide and help Sarah and John.
Scenario: We added real-life consequences, so we can create a relation between the learner and the couple. The goal was to create a connection, so the learner can identify with the consequences and really try to help.
Future development
From the feedback received, we are working on a part 2 of this course in which the learner will be in charge of the finances of John or Sarah, and help the go through the month with their selected salary, bank loan and monthly expenses.Број на дозболени обиди: Неограничено
